Chapter 1





Pada minggu pertama, kami belajar chapter 1 iaitu Digital Literacy.

Inilah summary untuk chapter pertama.

Chapter 1: Digital Literacy

         


        Difference between laptops, desktops, servers and tablets
 

·          Laptops are portable and desktops are not.
·          Laptops and desktops use computer OS.
·          Desktops are faster than laptops usually.
·          Tablets usually do not have  keyboard and mouse or CD drive.
·          Tablets function as a computing device is very limited compared to desktops and laptops.
·          Servers are designed to support many users and run a large number of different services and apps.







Purposes of devices
Smartphones

·        A smartphone is a mobile or cellular phone that runs off a mobile operating system (OS) and functions like a mini computer.
·        Smartphones also function as portable media players, digital cameras, video cameras and GPS navigational devices.

Digital camera

·        Records and stores photographic images in digital form.

Portable media player

·        Capable of storing and playing digital media such as audio, images, and video files.
·        The data is typically stored on a CD, DVD, flash memory, microdrive, or hard drive.

E-book reader

·        Mobile electronic device that is designed primarily for the purpose of reading digital e-books and periodicals.

Game console

·        Designed for users to use for playing video games, in contrast to arcade machines or home computers.

Contains keys, users press it to enter data and instructions into a computer or mobile device

Pointing devices
Allows users to control a small symbol on a screen

Voice and Video Input
Enable users to speak data instructions using voice input and to capture live full-motion images





Difference between the Internet and the Web
Internet
·        Worldwide collection of computer networks that connects millions of business, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals.
Web
·        Global library of information available to anyone connected to the internet.









The relationship among the web, webpages, websites, and web servers

Web
consists of a worldwide collection of electronic documents
Webpages
electronic document on the web, can contain text, graphics, audio, and video

Websites
collection of related webpages, which are stored on a web server
Web servers
a computer that delivers requested webpages to your computer or mobile devices
Operating System
set of programs that coordinates all the activities among computer or mobile device hardware
Applications
programs designed to make users more productive and/ or assist them with personal tasks
